While you’re all gearing up to spend Christmas around the tree, singing carols and chugging eggnog, spare a thought for Justin Bieber.
The 17-year-old pop star has revealed that he never spent a Christmas Eve baking cookies for the big man in the red suit.
Why?
His mom Patty didn’t allow it!
“My mom always told me there wasn’t a Santa. She thought if I grew up knowing about Santa then finding out he wasn’t real, that it would be like she was lying to me.”
JB notes, however, that he was not allowed to spoil the Santa fantasy for any of his peers.
And instead of opening presents from Santa left under the tree, the Biebers opted for a unique gift exchange.
He explained:
“We played a game on Christmas Day where everyone brought a girl gift and a boy gift. You roll the dice and if you get doubles, you get to pick a present and if you don’t, it’s the next person’s turn.”
He added:
“Then, the next time you roll doubles you get to choose someone else’s present and switch. One time I really wanted a Game Boy but I ended up with pots and pans, which was disappointing. I think I gave them to my mom.”
The Biebs makes his foray into the holiday special lineup this week with the debut of This is Justin Bieber, airing Wednesday on TLC. The one-hour TV event features Bieber’s tour of Great Britain, including performances with rapper Tinie Tempah and tunes from his first holiday album, Under the Mistletoe.
This year, Justin is excited to return to Canada to enjoy Christmas Eve dinner with his mom and then Christmas lunch with his dad and younger siblings.
Do you and your family have a different holiday tradition like Justin’s?
